Russi M. Lal began his journalistic career at the young age of nineteen in 1948. By 1959, he was managing the first Indian book publishing house in London, and in 1964 he founded Himmat Weekly with Rajmohan Gandhi, which he edited for ten years. R.M. Lala's debut book, The Creation of Wealth, was met with both critical and commercial success in 1981. He continued to publish other notable works such as Beyond the Last Blue Mountain: A Life of J.R.D Tata (1992), Celebration of the Cells: Letters from a Cancer Survivor (1999) and A Touch of Greatness: Encounters with the Eminent (2001). His books have been translated into various languages, including Japanese.
