Harinder S. Sikka works as the group director of strategic business at Piramal Group. He joined the Indian Navy after attending Delhi University and was commissioned in January 1981. Taking a premature retirement as a Lieutenant Commander in 1993, he later produced a film called Nanak Shah Fakir which gained recognition at the Cannes, Toronto, and Los Angeles international film festivals. The film was awarded three national awards, including the Nargis Dutt Award for best feature film on national integration. Sikka's second book, Calling Sehmat, has also been adapted into a film, Raazi, by Meghna Gulzar, scheduled for release in May 2018. He currently resides in Delhi with his family. The year is 1971 and tensions are rising between India and Pakistan.
