Ruskin Bond, who was born in Kasauli in 1934, grew up in Jamnagar, Dehradun, New Delhi, and Shimla. At the age of seventeen, he wrote his first novel, The Room on the Roof, for which he received the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize in 1957. With over 500 short stories, essays, and novellas to his name, including Vagrants in the Valley and A Flight of Pigeons, and more than forty books for children, Bond is an acclaimed writer. In recognition of his contributions to literature, he has received various awards, such as the Sahitya Akademi Award, Padma Shri, Delhi government's Lifetime Achievement Award, and Padma Bhushan. Bond currently resides in Landour, Mussoorie, with his extended family. This book offers a collection of his best works, showcasing the beauty and joy that his writing is renowned for.
