Born in 1954, Kazuo Ishiguro moved from Nagasaki, Japan to Britain at the age of five. He has since become a highly acclaimed author, receiving numerous awards such as the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Booker Prize. His works have been translated into over fifty languages and his novels The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go were both adapted into successful films. Notably, he was awarded a knighthood in 2018 for his contributions to literature. He is also a recipient of the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from France and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star from Japan.
